Mineral oils are petroleum products used as lubricants for vehicle engines and industrial machinery. Used mineral oils contain 15-20% additives that are considered hazardous (aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene, benzopyrene, sulfur, nitrogen, etc.) and 5% lead. Those that contain pollutants and impurities in a large percentage are unsuitable for recycling and are treated as toxic waste.
The recycling of mineral oils aims to collect clean lubricants, after the removal of pollutants, impurities and oxidation products. Sources of used mineral oils are vehicle workshops, military installations, ports, machine shops, etc.
